It's no surprise that Tony Allen's new album does nothing to dim his reputation as one of the world's greatest drummers. He's the personification of subtlety, leading from the back and carefully pushing and prodding the music, but doing this so cleverly that half the time people don't even notice he's there.

Released on jazz label Blue Note, The Source is a collaboration between a bunch of French jazzbos and famed Afrobeat rhythmatist Tony Allen. So it isn't like Fela Kuti type stuff. It's an excellent album, blending Allen's propulsive drumming with a modern Euro-jazz horn heavy (tuba, yes please!!!) aesthetic/5(31).
