From gritty solos and pulsing bass lines to the pounding beats and the lyrical and vocal stylings of Pete Stewart, Lonely House is by far Grammatrain's best album. Like Nirvana's Nevermind was renowned in the mainstream markets, Lonely House is a true essential to any Christian rock enthusiasts library.

Lonely House Lyrics: Cannot grow pretend to bleed / In a trough of gray I kneel to feed / Stare forward, glare behind / Looking for what I cannot find / Am I the soil or the seed / Can't tell what.

I would say this album is comparable to Lonely House. I'm not willing to say one is better than the other. If you are just getting started with Grammatrain, I suggest their live album (their final performace), a good compilation of their best stuff (though the sound quality and mixing was mediocre, still a good Grammatrain sampler)/5(16).

It was little known that Christian music had its own Soundgarden, but Grammatrain earned that title with their fantastic debut album, Lonely House. Musically Grammatrain more than held their own against their secular contemporaries.
  9. Samull says:
Grammatrain's "Lonely House" was one of those undiscovered gems of the 90s and today, a pawn shop treasure. In Grunge was king of the rock world and delivered a sound of twisting, sinewy guitars and complex yet sometimes unintelligible lyrics/5(8).
